Tanum's Rescue Service consists of two RIB stations (Rescue Service Personnel on Call), one station in Hamburgsund and one in Tanumshede. We have approximately 60 employees and are part of the Western Rescue Region.

We now wish to strengthen our team and are looking for colleagues for both our station in Hamburgsund and our station in Tanumshede. We are looking for more firefighters who can serve in an on-call group or a pool group.

Job Responsibilities

Working as an on-call firefighter means you help create safety in society. You have another job or are studying, but you are ready to report to the fire station promptly when the pager sounds, so that the rescue vehicle can leave the station within 5-7 minutes. You are part of an on-call group that is on standby according to a fixed schedule, most commonly every fourth week.

As a group, you solve tasks together and are dispatched to various acute emergencies such as fires, traffic accidents, drownings, and other situations where the need for a rapid intervention can be decisive.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes

The following qualifications are prerequisites to perform the job of a firefighter:

• Full health, verified by a health examination
• Basic physical fitness, verified by a treadmill test
• Hold at least a Category B driver's license and have access to your own car
• Are a competent swimmer
• Live and work within 5 minutes (Tanumshede) - 7 minutes (Hamburgsund) from the fire station
• Have consent from your main employer to leave the workplace for alarms, exercises, and training

What We Offer

To get a good foundation in the work as a firefighter, you are first trained internally for approximately two to three weeks within the first year. After that, in one of the Civil Defence Agency's rescue service adapted training courses or equivalent training which lasts six weeks.

You need to be prepared to obtain a Category C driver's license (truck), which is paid for by us. To maintain good skills, you practice approximately 50-60 hours per year, mostly in the evenings. Salary is provided for standby time, exercises, training, and potential alarms.
